NYE Essentials

Published December 31, 2014 by lesleyhope

I’m going to be the first to tell you that I’ve done it ALL on NYE before. I’m talking like fake blonde extensions, 5 inch strappy heels, dresses that are too short, dresses with no back, spray tan, lots of bronzer, and of course… too much alcohol. As I’ve grown up a little and matured in the past years, I wanted to write a list of what are REALLY essentials this NYE.

  • Friends. Be with people that you want to be with. People that make you laugh and have fun. I’ve gone around the block too many times and have spent NYE at parties where I honestly don’t LIKE many of the people there and I’m just there… to be there.IMG_20141101_233408

<– Me and two of my best friends

  • Something warm to wear. As I mentioned previously, I’ve done it all and frozen my butt off. Was it worth it? Maybe at the time or so I thought. Is it worth it now? Hell no. Granted I live in one of the coldest cities everrr right now but I am not trying to challenge a -5 degree wind chill- now or ever again! I will probably rock some black skinnies tonight with a top, blazer, high boots and my long North Face jacket. Not to mention my hat and gloves… sorry hair!
  • Glitter. Ok so I’m going to concede on the glitter makeup to makeup for the non-giltter dress of the past. Something very simple is appropriate. I am going to do a glitter winged liner look tonight. I have been perfecting my winged liner for the past 6 months and I finally can do it on average 4 days a week without messing up. That’s a decent average (4 days out of the normal 5) compared to what it was when I started getting serious about the wings (my average back then was about .5 days out of 5 because I could get one wing right one day, then the other wing would just look atrocious).

I am going to use a few of my MAC pigments tonight along with a mixing medium to create this look below:

glitter

  • Color! Since I’m going for the more funeral-esque/MAC counter girl outfit tonight (black on black on black- pants, boots, blazer), I will probably wear a pop of color under for my shirt AND put a really fun color on my lips that I usually would never wear to work for everyday. I’m thinking like a neon pink (Nylon by OCC), a bright lavendar (Hoochie by OCC) OR maybe something just bold like a dark blue (Vain by OCC). The options are endless!

hoochie   Hoochie nylon  Nylon vain Vain

Maybe I’ll add some glitter or MAC pigment on top of those… could be a lip to remember!

  • Last but not least… nails. Gotta go with fun nails. This can be any color, just make sure they’re not naked. I did the dark red for Christmas- Lost on Lombard which was perfect. I’m thinking I’ll do Birthday Babe by OPI which is a fun, metallic silver that I usually also paint for fun events (like my birthday)

birthday babe

Completed! I hope you all have a beautiful New Years. I actually wish that I wasn’t doing ANYTHING. I’m such an introvert that my couch and pajamas sound best to me… but following social norms (and since my cousin is going to be in town), I’ve gotta do what I gotta do. And that is above! Stay safe, don’t spend too much money and don’t drink too much! There’s too much awesome football tomorrow for anyone to be hung over.

With that all being said….

GO GREEN!!!!!!

Get Naked

Published March 21, 2014 by lesleyhope

Hi friends! I’ve been slacking, I’m sorry. I actually have had the flu for the past couple of days. So I knew when I went into the bathroom at 10AM yesterday and looked at the ghost with the washed out skin and dull eyes staring back in the mirror, I should go home (side note, I had done the exact same makeup routine I usually do, I even highlighted to perk up my eyes) . Moral of the story, if you’re sick, putting on makeup will not help. Your body will fight that all off and melt your makeup to say “LOOK GIRLFRIEND, YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS WORKING OVERTIME, CAN YOU GIVE US A BREAK NOW?” So I did. I gave my immune system Christmas early and slept for 13 hours. My body is still a little angry at me for going too long without stopping, but it’s getting better.

On to the next one. I’ve got 2 products to review and swatch for you today. The beloved NAKED palettes from Urban Decay. I don’t have the 2nd one only because it is, in my opinion, the weakest of the 3 in terms of different colors- but that’s only because I had the first one. If you don’t have the first, compare 1 and 2 to see which colors look better on you but I wouldn’t get both. 1 is warmer tones and 2 are more silvers and cooler tones. 3 are rose golds and taupes which I really enjoy blending and working with. Blondes have the best luck with pink/rose tones in my opinion.

20140319_142559

The ever famous Urban Decay Naked and Naked 3 palettes.

20140319_142653

Let me just compare the packaging of both quickly- Naked 3 comes in a sleek, plastic palette that snaps shut. Naked 1 is in a cardboard with felt and a magnetic shut-case. Naked 3, you win in that department. They both came with cool brushes that were duel ended but I lost them both. And they were synthetic, kind of cheapies. They’re nice if you’re just getting into makeup but I don’t pay too much mind to them.

Now the colors… let’s start with the first 7 of Naked 1 (mainly because I didn’t plan out how many I wanted to do before I started coloring all over myself).

  • Virgin- a shimmery pearl. Great for highlighting under the brow.
  • Sin- a warm, champagne.
  • Naked- a medium, matte brown. I find this color to be the most disappointing out of the entire palette. It’s hard to pick up and doesn’t blend well.
  • Sidecar-a shimmered brownish with a little bit of red undertone and lots of sparkles. Love this on my lid for a night out.
  • Buck- a deeper matte brown. It’s the better version of Naked.
  • Half Baked- true coppery beige. This is one of UD’s best sellers as a single
  • Smog- shimmer bronze.
  • Darkhorse- a chocolate brown with a warm, red undertone.
  • Toasted- medium taupe with more of a pink finish.
  • Hustle- a darker plum based taupe.
  • Creep- dark blue-black with little teal and silver speckles in it. Not one of my favorites in the palette. Difficult to blend out.
  • Gunmetal- beautiful blue-based gray. On the skin, it almost looks like it has a brown undertone. Reminds me of MAC’s Blue Brown pigment which is one of my FAVS!

20140319_143110 20140319_143322

Ok so take a long look at the colors above. I think the main thing they all have in common is warm, brownish/reddish undertones. UD hit a home run with this baby. But then… they came out with another beauty. Not Naked 2. PASS. NAKED 3!!!

  • Strange- pale, neutral pink. I was slightly underwhelmed until I tried it. It’s very smooth and almost acts as a silky finish- not a highlighter.
  • Dust- pink metallic shimmer with micro glitter. The glitter falls so be ready to clean under your eyes after you apply this one. But it’s very pigmented and glittery for some pizazz.
  • Burnout- light peachy satin.
  • Limit- light dusty rose matte.
  • Buzz- metallic rose with gold undertones.
  • Trick- coppery pink with silvery and metallic sparkle.
  • Nooner- medium pinkish brown matte. The darker version to Limit.
  • Liar- a medium mauve shimmer.
  • Factory- a brownish pink satin with red undertones.
  • Mugshot- a medium warm taupe shimmer.
  • Darkside- a cool-toned purple taupe with a pearl finish
  • Blackheart- Smokey matte black-red with red glitter. One of my favorites in this collection. Obviously, not an everyday color but a unique color that you can blend with lots of others to create the tone you want since it is matte with red undertones.

20140319_14362720140319_143835

I love both of these palettes a lot. I do like Naked 3 better- it has many colors that suit my skin tone better with the pinks.

Next on my list to blog not in a million weeks about… colors for spring! Yeah yeah so I’ve already talked your ears off about Radiant Orchid but there are so many other colors that are must haves for THIS spring in particular since I feel that it might never come…. sign. I will be pale and dark rooted for eternity if the sun doesn’t start working it’s magic.

OPI’s Don’t Talk Bach To Me. It’s the Germany collection and it’s dedicated to my lovely Spartans and March Madness. GO GREEN!

Must Have Lipstick Shades

Published March 10, 2014 by lesleyhope

Sometimes my life experiences are the ways I come up with topics. I talk as if I am a reputable author that writes so much… Anyway, I went to Chelsea Handler’s stand up show tonight (it was hysterical) and I was going through pictures afterwards (because every girl documents these type of events like woah). I’m reflecting on the L afterwards, going through all the pictures, experimenting with all the filters to see if I can make myself look tan (I can’t).  So I’m really studying and critiquing the hell out of these pictures. I had put on a bright pink lipstick color for the show- and when I mean bright, I’m talking like Malibu Barbie bright. The hottest, pinkest pink there is. I loved it, but when I was staring at nothing but these pictures I thought to myself, thank god I tried this color going to Chelsea Handler and not work or a date. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about experimenting and trying everything you’re up for but some colors scream certain things. Like this pink, it screamed NOT FOR WORK, JUST WEAR TO A SPECIAL EVENT THAT ONLY FASHION FORWARD PEOPLE WILL BE AT. And that red screams a couple of different things- ALPHA FEMALE, DON’T F*** WITH ME, or SEX. That dark purple that is almost black screams I WILL DOMINATE YOU or GET OUT OF MY WAY. You get my point?

Now I wanted to put together a list of lipstick colors that are must have universally. Universal for all skin tones, all ages (this blog is 18 and over BTW so I’m not endorsing anything under that), all hair colors, eye colors, etc.

First up… blue.

Just kidding.

1) Red. Not rocket science. Just red.

20140309_222908

Why? Because it’s classic. Because makes you stand out. Because it looks good on anyone. Because… that color is smoking hot!  I highly suggest it for sales jobs where the guys are a little sleazy and the ladies have to be a little forward. Not trying to sound anti-feminist but play the part when you need to. And if you happen to have bright red lips and get the job, sale or man- amen sister.

2) Natural nude.

20140309_222908_2

I love color but I am a LOVER of the nudes. The natural, barely there look is so sexy and can be worn literally anytime with any makeup on your eyes and face.

3) Soft, light pink.

20140309_222908_3

Not a barbie pink. Just a very feminine color. I hate saying this but it’s romantic! Baby pink works well on everyone and it doesn’t scream anything. It actually whispers, “kiss me, I’m a girl”.

4) Deep berry

20140309_222908_4

This color has come onto the fashion map full force in the past year especially and it’s not going anywhere. I stand by my word that anyone can pull off a bold, berry shade on their lips. I don’t care if you’re white, black, medium, blue or yellow- you can and should have this color in your makeup kit.

That concludes the four colors I believe are must have lipsticks. It doesn’t mean you need to go out right now and buy them all (even though if you’re going to Walgreens or the mall anytime soon…) but you should be open to every single one of these colors and I never want to hear “that color doesn’t look good on me”.

Sleep tight and work out hard tomorrow ladies! Summer is upon us. It’s 40 degrees in Chicago!

Speaking of summer…

20140309_225243

This is OPI’s Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot! It’s the best hot pink nail polish. Looks better with a tan but something has to get me through the next week when there’s still snow on the ground.

Adios and sleep tight,

Lesley Hope xo.

The Power Of The Eyebrow

Published March 8, 2014 by lesleyhope

Hey beauties! Ugh this week has been crazy busy. I finally am home and blogging yay!

Allright, so I think many girls go through a stage where we pluck the $h!t out of our eyebrows because we thought that they looked better really small. Right? Nope? Just me? Okay fine. So I went through a time in college where I think I plucked my eyebrows everynight. Yes, you heard me. EVERYNIGHT. What were you thinking Lesley Hope??? My mom would always tell me, “your eyebrows are too thin” or “you need to grow out your eyebrows”. I had the dreadful eyebrownorexia. They never looked thin enough for me. Fast forward a couple of years and here I sit at my vanity, staring at my eyebrows at night, wondering “why”?

I have gotten past my eyebrownorexia and now prefer to let ’em grow out and hang out as much as possible. I have even taken it upon myself to start DOING my eyebrow makeup (I only thought drag queens did their eyebrows until recently). I stumbled upon a wonderful makeup artist at Sephora who did my makeup for me one day (Rouge VIP what’s up) and she made my eyebrows so beautiful that it changed my entire look! I only thought lipstick could change a look! I thought wrong.

I now use the Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil, Brow Wax Pencil, and Brow Powder Duo all by Anastasia Beverly Hills. I don’t do my brows everyday, but when I do, I feel like a new woman.

20140307_213647

First I apply the clear wax pencil all over my eyebrows (think of it kind of like a primer for your brows). I make sure I go outside of the lines because generally you want to draw them on thicker than what they are and you need a good base down to do so. The wax pencil helps the brow color stay throughout a long day. I then draw the outline of my eyebrow with the brow wiz pencil (again, I make mine start a TAD closer together than my actual eyebrow). This is actually a little daunting if you have never done it, it still is a little weird for me but I just look at it as enhancing your natural beauty. Once I am satisfied with the outline, I fill it in with the pencil as well and darken up the color. When the color of the eyebrows and shapes of both are done, I use the brow powder duo (I have medium dark) and pat it over the pencil like an eye shadow or a finishing powder on your face. Voila! I am done. I would suggest going a shade darker than your hair color (at least) 1) because it’s natural, eyebrows rarely match natural hair color especially for blondes and 2) because it’s SO in right now. Examples below:

ImageImageImageImagehbz-GWEN-STEFANI-4-0912-xln

So Rita Ora, Miley, Kate and Emma all say it’s a go. It’s definitely a go. Stunning. It defines your features and bring attention to the EYES which is what you want. I even tried it…

BEFORE

20140305_193510

…. AFTER

20140306_200603

Granted, those are are two different nights this week. But still. You see the dramatic effect it has on my face.

In conclusion, can we just celebrate the woman who started it all? Yes. There is a picture of her hanging in my room. The queen. Not Elizabeth or Beyonce but…

marilynmonroe-jpeg

Marilyn Monroe. Rest in peace you beautiful woman.

Before I send you all off… I have one swatch. It’s OPI, the Gwen Stefani collection (that happens to be a coincidence that she is also blonde with beautiful brown eyebrows).

20140304_215035

4 In The Morning- it’s a satin color. Matte black. I LOVE this color the day of and after I paint my nails but I was disappointed with how it stayed (or how it didn’t stay is more like it). It chipped easily because you’re not supposed to use a top coat and the finish didn’t stay matte for more than 2 days. Great color for a one night party but not for long wearing.

Goodnight beautiful people! Hope you learned something and try something new with your brows!

Color Crazy And My Hatred For Yellow

Published March 1, 2014 by lesleyhope

Hi guys! I started this post on Tuesday. And now it’s Friday. Sooo… yeah! I have been a sucky blogger this week. My apologies. I’ve got some great ideas for next week AND I’m taking my beautiful Canon back to Chicago (I’m in Michigan tonight) so I can start taking some good pictures and some videos.

Before I start I want everyone to think about one thing: your favorite color to wear on your eyes (as in eye liner)  and WHY. If anyone picks yellow, please leave a comment I’m dying to have any witnesses back up this ruthless, unforgiving, primary color that I despise so much.

20140225_222026

Tonight we’re talking about some colors. Eyeliner colors. YUM!!! Everyone has their favorite (black being the most common) and everyone has their least favorite (yellow anyone?). I’m going to preach my practice again in this post- not all colors work well alone BUT all colors can absolutely be worn and mixed together to create fabulous finishes (I still have yet to find a fit for yellow).

I swatched my Sephora 12 Hour Wear Waterproof Eye Pencils for you here:

20140225_221920

*Two things I learned about this picture- I need to greatly improve my swatching abilities and colors appear very differently with a flash in photos.*

Colors from left to right:

01- black lace (matte)- Blackest black. Comparable to UD’s Perversion.

35- romantic comedy (glitter)- Fun, bright pink. Great for a pop on a night out over a black liner.

31- purple stilettos (matte)- True violet. Looks crazier than it is. LOVE this color. I did a look below.

33- love affair (shimmer)- Dark plum with some pizzaz.

19- go for a ride (shimmer)- Forest green.

25- galaxy girl (glitter)- Deep bluish blackish teal.

04- starry sky (glitter)-  Darker silvery grey.
03- 5th Avenue (matte)- True matte grey. *one of my favorites*
13- tiramisu (matte)- Dark, chocolate brown.
14- taupe- just that, taupe.
11- Cookie Crunch (shimmer)- Goldish, amber brown.
06- Blonde Ambition (shimmer)- Very light golden beige
02 Flashy Silver- Very light and sheer silvery white.
I like these a lot, especially for their price point of $10. I was going to compare them to Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils ($20) but I have to put my snobby pants on and say the two brands are at two different levels. UD’s are just a step above Sephora’s even though I LOVE both. Sephora’s are super creamy which I generally like in an eyeliner but when it comes to some of the lighter colors, I have to use A LOT to get any sort of color base going on. UD’s  last a little longer and come in more matte finishes which I prefer when it comes to eyeliner but for half the price, I’ll get my fun colors from Sephora.

Now, another trick to eye liners that I like to live by- lining your waterline in a white or beige to make your eyes pop. The ONLY white and beige matte finishes I have found are OCC’s new eye liners and Rimmel London’s (*DRUGSTORE ALERT) waterproof eye pencils. Putting a light color in your waterline, and especially for people like myself that have smaller eyes, makes them pop and brightens them up.

20140225_065058

That’s OCC’s Feathered in my waterline and Sephora’s Purple Stilettos below. Not too crazy huh?

In conclusion, I hope everyone has seen a little piece of my heaven that I look at everyday (those colors!) And I also hope that everyone has contemplated why yellow exists. Ok I’m getting out of hand, I just seriously don’t understand the color yellow. Is it because I never really liked Big Bird or that my beloved Spartan’s rival is Michigan? I don’t know, but I don’t care at this point. I am a color pheen but I believe everyone has the right to dislike one color out of all the colors.

Teaser to my next post…. (and now you know what I do on a Friday night)

20140228_231402

Super good pic, I know. My face has been bearing this bitter cold and it’s starting to wear on my skin. I’ve been experimenting with a few different face products including moisturizer, cleanser, masks, spot treatment, primer, foundation & even concealer. I’m trying to get the perfect combo but haven’t found it yet… TBD.

I’ll leave you with two beautiful nail colors by OPI and ESSIE

20140225_19292720140227_222724

Tickle my Francey on the left. Such a beautiful, classy mauve. One of my favorites I would say.

Mint Candy Apple on the right. It has more blue in person but it’s a light, fun springy teal.

Goodnight pretty people. XO Lesley Hope

Lipstick & You

Published February 23, 2014 by lesleyhope

Happy Saturday! So remember how I said how I was busy this whole week because of all my dates? Yeah…. that didn’t happen as I expected. Before I start writing passionately about lipstick, let me just inquire- are there ANY guys out there anymore that don’t call on a phone? Or does everyone just casually text like life and plans are no big deal? Just wondering.

Ok, here we go. I went this whole week doing the “no makeup” look. It was fun, but hard! I love lipstick and lipstick colors and eye shadow and trying out new things on myself. But it did cut my time down in the mornings a little since I didn’t have to use different brushes, colors, etc. I went out tonight so FINALLY I could put on some lipstick and try mixing new colors. I thought I would share another experiment with you all about how lipstick changes your look drastically. And feel free to let me know which look/color you like best on me! CAVIAT: I hate taking pictures of myself and I really don’t like how I look when it’s just me smiling for my own dang photo. Hence, I will never make a career out of modeling.

  • Look one. Pre lipstick. The naked lip look. My lips are pretty nude naturally which I like. Doesn’t require much for a nude lip.

20140222_185225

  • Look 2. I first put on that cyan blue from Inglot and mixed with a dark, matte purple. I like the color but doesn’t go well with my eyes tonight. Makes my teeth look white though…

20140222_185433

  • Look 3. I used a bright red and mixed with the purple already on my lips to create a deep red burgundy. Again, the look is a little severe with what’s going on with my eyes. I like look 2 better I think

20140222_185554

  • Look 4. I needed to subdue the harsh tones and soften everything up a little. I used… wait for it… a GREEN metallic OCC Lip Tar in PowerPlant. That seems crazy but as you can see from Project Swatch’s blog, it cancels out red tones and creates a frosty, browner color. LOVE this color to death because it adds another dimension to my lip look. Getting warmer on my final look as well!

20140222_185731

  • Look 5. The final one! I used first a darker beige to cancel out all of the red. Then I added a light pink to bring out the light purple and viola! I have a pretty mauve lip color that’s not dramatic but not boring either.

20140222_185909

I took an up close shot so you guys can see the color that was happening up close and personal. Love it!

20140222_190119

Let me know what you guys think. I used all Inglot Freedom System Lip Creams and OCC Lip Tars to get my perfect color. You don’t need either of those brands necessarily to create your perfect color- just some patience, and a little adventure to not be afraid to mix, mix, mix!

I loved making this post tonight because I LOVE color and I LOVE lipstick. I wanted this to emphasize how much the color of just what’s on your lips can dramatically change your look. I’m always so much more in tune with my mood when I’m putting on my makeup because it totally makes a difference. That sounds silly but it’s true. Makeup has brought me closer to myself because I FEEL different when I put on different things. Just me though, I am an artist in my own way and love it.

Here’s my favorite OPI color of all time (don’t mind the minor chips, sorry 😦 ). My Private Jet

20140222_184855

It’s a beautiful metallic grayish, purple with little specs of silver and colors in it. It makes me feel as if I should be on a private jet with my designer bags and suitcases. Ah, it’s definitely an all year round luxury type of color.

Hope you beauties enjoyed tonight, I certainly did!

Goodnight, xo. Lesley Hope

No Makeup Monday

Published February 18, 2014 by lesleyhope

Hello beauties! BIG POST TONIGHT! Finally right? I fell quite hard tonight on my tush running to the bus. How embarrassing! Not that that has anything at all to do with this post but I thought I would share because I needed to get it off my chest. Okay. There’s my post secret for the night.

I was thinking on something I could do this entire week and share it with you guys… I decided on a no-makeup week. Now, let’s just clarify what this means. It’s the no makeup, makeup look. It’s popular right now with all the metallic and “naked” colors out there (maybe we should be thanking Urban Decay for started the Naked trend). I’ve always been one to love the nude tones. A nude lip, a nude-ish eye, muted barely there blush. Then I thought… I’ve never worn all together. I’ve always gone with one and not the others. So I took the challenge upon myself to go this entire week wearing makeup- but nude makeup for a no-makeup look.

It’s harder than you would think! Especially for me, someone who loves her radiant orchid! You do still have to use products, but just be more aware of the finishes, the shades and the tones to ensure they all are very natural. I also mixed it up with a couple drugstore products that you can pick up at Walgreens.

I used the following today:

20140217_201344

L’oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder for my primer. I have the shade 318 Natural Buff. I use it as a foundation on days where I’m just looking for the bare minimum coverage (like on a Sunday when I have to leave just to go to the grocery store and I want to even out my skintone without getting dolled up). This stuff is great. It really is a liquid that is SO smooth and light when you rub it on it feels like a powder. Non greasy and very quick drying. $10

Lush Colour Supplement for my foundation in Light Yellow. A new product for me. I read a little about Lush’s skin care products and so I popped into Macy’s to see for myself. All natural ingredients (smells great as well). It looks a little scary when you first put it on your skin but it is so blendable which is always a plus when I’m looking for a foundation. The great thing about this is, you can use it as a concealer, foundation, and pair it with moisturizer for a tint. This is $16.95 and comes in 4 different colors. When the specialist helped me, she told me I could use either Light Yellow or Light Pink with my skin. I chose this one as it would probably be easier to transition into summer with. FYI… 12 + hours later and even after I have worked out, this is the best foundation I’ve used by far. It doesn’t run, it doesn’t make my skin feel gross or greasy now. I’m supremely impressed.

20140217_201403

Benefit Bronzer/Blush Dallas on my cheekbones. This is fairly new. I had been looking at all my bronzers thinking about how much I needed a tan- none of them transitioned with my fair skin into the winter abyss! I haven’t been a big user of Benefit but wanted to try it out, and this color was perfect for a winter look. It’s a natural dusty, plum color which I love because it serves as a great bronzer for winter OR a little pop of color once you have a tan going in the summer. It isn’t matte but it’s not quite “shimmery” either.  It’s also one of Benefit’s most popular selling product and I know why! $28 so… definitely another splurge.

20140217_220015

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light. This is a pricey item but I love this product. There’s 6 shades, this is the lightest one. I use it on my t zone to give my skin a beautiful finish and highlight a little bit. This powder gives skin another dimension. I was going to call it a finishing powder but it’s so much more. It perfects the way light bounces on the skin almost- really amazing, love it. Splurge but worth it! ($45 at Sephora).

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Darkside. This is the Naked 3 version (each Naked palette has a version of the double ended pencil). The other color on this pencil is Blackheart which I have also swatched for reference. If you don’t already know, I am OBSESSED with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils. They’re my FAVORITE. They are so pigmented, so creamy, long lasting and come in a rainbow array of colors. This one is $16 but normally they are $19. Darkside is the color on the top. I used this lightly under my bottom eyelash for just enough definition. Darkside is a deep mauve, taupe. Blackheart is a dark burgundy brown with specs of red in it. Both are beautiful, I think Blackheart is a little more unique but it was a little bold for my look.

20140217_201657

Maybelline Great Lash Mascera on my eyes in Blackest Black. I have never spent the big bucks on mascera. Why? Because I can buy this little hott pink baby for $6 and I have ever since highschool. Goes on thick, love the deep pigmented black, doesn’t clump.

L’OREAL Colour Rich Lipstick in 760 Silverstone. I’ve been trying to think how I want to describe this color. It’s a silvery tan with gold tones. Can something be silver AND gold? It has a little shade of each in it, which is why it can look good on anyone. It also goes on very sheer so you do need a few coats to create more color. It’s buff enough to make the cut for “no makeup Monday”. Oh and it’s $8.

20140217_201457

Dun dun dun…. the final look is……….

This! Day 1 of my challenge. I’ll try something new each day and let you guys know about it 🙂 Oh and I completely forgot I used two colors in the Naked 3 palette on my eyes. But as I’m almost done with this post… I will swatch that entire palette later this week because it’s SO PRETTY!

I survived the first day of no makeup week. And I liked it! And I don’t think I looked like a zombie that woke up on the wrong side of the bed 🙂 To conclude for tonight… I’ll leave you guys with one nail swatch:

Coney Island Cotten Candy by none other than OPI. It’s a light peachy light pink. Reminds me a little of Bubble Bath but slightly more warm tones. Pretty huh?

Okay I hope you all enjoyed tonight. I’ll let you know how my butt feels tomorrow (I think I have a bruise).

If you guys have suggestions on what I should blog about let me know! I won’t be blogging much this week because I am booked solid… with dates! Imagine that! I am getting back into the game and this week starts it all. But I never kiss and tell.

Kisses,

Lesley Hope
